Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am so happy for you. If you are just looking into doing a maternity session or have already booked one this post is very informational.
When is a good time to schedule a session?
This is really based on personal preference. The best time is when your belly is nice and round which is typically around 28-34 weeks. This, of course can very based on your unique an special shape. Some Women will not gain very much weight or carry small and might want to choose closer to 36-38 weeks. You still want to feel good, have a round belly, but you also want to make sure you take these before the baby “drops” lower. Be sure to schedule 3-4 weeks in advance of when you would like your session to take place. I will of course do my best to get you in the studio if you have missed the window of booking.
Can I have my session on Location?
Absolutely! You may choose to have your session either in my studio or at a location of your choice.
What should I wear for the session?
I do have beautiful gowns and bandeaus from some of my favorite shops ( Roses & Ruffles ,TAoPaN and AR Backdrops) that are available for your use for the session. Each item is always washed and cleaned after every session using Baby Dreft detergent. For your own personal clothing choices, I ask to keep very simple. Stay away from to much destracting patterns. What about hair and makeup?
Keep your makeup simple we want to keep these timeless, something that can last a lifetime. Stay away from too much eyeshadow or bright red lips stick. For hair I recommend keep it it down wether you want it straight or curly is your call. You are welcome to come with it straight and curl it a little after first few shots.
How long is a session?
Sessions usually last approximately up to one to one and a half hours.
Should I book the newborn session at the time of my maternity session?
Yes if you plan to have a a newborn session you should schedule that same time you book your maternity or you can choose to book day of your session as well.
How long does it take before I can see my portraits from the session?
I ask that you allow for a 2 week turn around time. I typically post sneak peeks at your consent online within 2-3 days of your session. Once your full gallery is completed I will then send you the password and link to your private online gallery.
